In Bigg Boss 9 Telugu, the fight for power cards is in full swing. Yesterday, Kalyan’s Red Team won back-to-back tasks, securing two power cards. Once again, history repeated itself as the Red Team dominated today’s episode as well. With this victory, four contestants have officially become captaincy contenders, and the final captain will be decided in the next episode.
Angry Hippo Challenge Begins
Bigg Boss introduced the Hungry Hippo Challenge in the garden area. A giant “hippo” would make sounds indicating hunger, and housemates had to fetch balls from different areas and feed it. The team that fed the most balls would win the challenge and a power card. Bharani was appointed as the sanchalak (moderator) of the task.

- Blue Team: Tanuja, Rithu, Harish
- Yellow Team: Sanjana, Ramu, Suman Shetty
- Red Team: Kalyan, Emmanuel, Flora
- Green Team: Eliminated from the race
Sanjana Helps the Opposite Team
The task turned aggressive with Kalyan and Emmanuel dominating physically, pushing and blocking other players. Surprisingly, Sanjana chose to support the Red Team instead of her own Yellow Team. When questioned by teammate Suman Shetty, she casually replied, “We won’t win anyway, so better to support the stronger team.” Suman, however, refused to agree. Ultimately, the Red Team once again emerged victorious, and Kalyan handed the contender card to Emmanuel, making both of them captaincy contenders.
Frustration Builds in the House
Suman Shetty, Rithu, and Deeman were upset with Sanjana’s betrayal. Suman sarcastically said, “What benefit do we get if Red wins? Will we get an extra egg or bean curry?” Rithu also mocked Sanjana, while Deeman advised Suman to calm down but stay strong.
Kalyan & Emmanuel Gain Power to Decide
Bigg Boss later announced that Kalyan and Emmanuel, being winners, could decide which three pairs from the house would compete for captaincy. After discussions, they excluded Deeman strategically and formed these pairs:
- Tanuja – Suman
- Flora – Rithu
- Sanjana – Ramu
Harish was not included due to injury. These pairs were set to battle for the final spots in captaincy contention.
Tanuja & Rithu Break Down in the Bathroom
In the first round, Tanuja and Suman competed, but both were disqualified Suman for stepping outside the line and Tanuja for not following the plank rules. Upset, Tanuja locked herself in the bathroom, crying. Rithu followed her inside, consoling her, while Deeman kept pleading from outside, “Please come out, stay strong.” The emotional breakdown became one of the most dramatic moments of the episode.
Final Results – Four Captaincy Contenders
- Ramu defeated Sanjana and became a contender.
- Rithu won against Flora and secured her spot.
- Along with earlier winners Kalyan and Emmanuel, this brought the final four captaincy contenders:
Kalyan, Emmanuel, Ramu, and Rithu.
The ultimate captain will be decided in the upcoming episode.
